Hi, I’m Caren.

FOUNDER AND CHIEF STORYTELLER

Headshot of Caren in red glasses.

I get it.

Not just because I've been around the nonprofit block. (Which I have, both as a professional and a board member at internationally recognized arts, culture, and education institutions for more than two decades). I understand and can help you overcome the challenges of understaffed and overstretched advancement offices, “this is how we've always done it” cultures, nuanced voices, and seemingly insurmountable neglect of communications.

And I get it because I value the role of relationships and know that words matter. An ardent listener and observer, creative writer, and grammar aficionado, I leverage my understanding of human behavior to shape strategic communications that strengthen relationships and inspire action.

I look forward to sharing the breadth and depth of my communications and development expertise—which includes leadership roles at the Art Institute of Chicago and Lincoln Park Zoo, and repeat contracts with top national universities and arts organizations—to elevate and exceed standards at your organization.

I graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Washington University in St. Louis, where I also earned a Master of Social Work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Development Leadership Consortium (DLC) alum.

Who on your staff has that magical combination of fundraising acumen and enviable writing chops?

Oh, no one?

I'm the writer, editor, and communications coach you've always wanted but didn't know you needed.

I've got you covered.
